Vlakbij Perth, in het plaatsje Methven, is in een oude boerderij Strathearn Distillery gevestigd. Deze micro-distillery is opgericht in 2013 door David Lang en Tony Reeman Clark. David is zich in 2015 op andere zaken gaan richten, Tony en de rest van het team focussen maximaal op kwaliteit. Strathearn produceert gin en single malt whisky.

De productiecapaciteit van Strathearn is vier octaves (kleine vaatjes van 50 liter) per week. Strathearn heeft als belangrijkste principe de herintroductie van het traditioneel destilleren, zodat de whisky van ouderwetse kwaliteit en karakter wordt. Niet alleen het destilleren gebeurt op traditionele wijze, ook de gebruikte ingredienten zijn gericht op kwaliteit (i.p.v. opbrengst). De distillery gebruikt Maris Otter Barley en ouderwetse distillers yeast. Alle stappen van het destillatieproces worden handmatig doorlopen en gekeurd.
