In 1824 werd Fettercairn opgericht door Sir Alexander Ramsey. De eenhoorn in het logo van Fettercairn komt van het wapen van clan Ramsey. Deze oude Highlands distillery ligt in het oosten van Schotland, vlakbij de Cairngorms. Tegenwoordig is de distillery in eigendom van Whyte and Mackay.
De gebruikte gerst is zeer licht gepeat (3-5 PPM) en de whisky rijpt in de dunnage warehouses bij de distillery. Bijzonder is dat de spirit stills in de nek gekoeld worden door een condensatiering.

    status: maturing, estimated ready for bottling ~ 2022
