Glenglassaugh is opgericht in 1875 en kende veel sluitingen. Rond 1960 zijn veel vernieuwingen en verbeteringen gerealiseerd. In 1986 werd Glenglassaugh gesloten, om pas in 2008 weer open te gaan. In 2013 werd Glenglassaugh overgenomen door the Benriach Distillery Company (tevens eigenaar van Glendronach).
