In 2015 Bart Joosten geared up from whisky enthousiast to whisky producer. In a shed in his backyard he started producing new make spirit under the name Eaglesburn distillery. In 2016 he professionalized his business and moved into the basements of Het Arsenaal (weapons storage), a building that dates back to the Middle Ages located in Doesburg, The Netherlands. This made for a lovely setting, but climbing the stairs with all the materials needed for producing spirits became harder as Eaglesburn grew. Therefore, Eaglesburn moved to a business park in Ede during the summer of 2019.

Besides whisky, Eaglesburn also produces gins, rum and wodka. Both the gins and the wodka have won medals in international competitions. For us the whisky is of interest. Bart puts a lot of effort in both the spirit he produces as in the casks used for maturation. So far (March 2020) Eaglesburn has released three whiskies, all bottled at three years old. All of these have been positively reviewed on Whiskybase.com. For a small craft distiller it can be difficult to mature whisky for a longer period. That is where we can play our part.
