Many casQueteers participate in cask shares together. To allow you to register your ‘co-owners’ of a cask share from the order entry on a per product level we added the Shared with feature. By adding the ‘co-owners’ to the product, the additional information will also be included in the downloadable order overviews of both the purchaser as well as the mentioned ‘co-owners’.
How does it look like?
When you are on the product page in the casQ shop you can’t miss it as you can see in the screenshot below.
Okay – the footnote is that it will only be visible on product pages for single casks and projects.
How to use it?
When you share a product with others then there are a few things to keep in mind:
- They will need to have an account themselves already as well.
- You’ll need to know the username of your buddy/buddies.
- You’ll need to enter the each username with a @ in front, so e.g. @username, and separate multiple usernames with a space ( ) and/or comma-space (, ).
- Any other text, including @username. (directly followed by a dot), will be discarded (when leaving the input field).
- Upon submitting the order the username(s) will be validated. Any non-existing username (e.g. due to a typo) will be discarded during this process.
When you follow the guidelines then you can’t go wrong.
Our TIP is to collect the usernames of your buddies prior to your next purchase and store them in a save place. That way you don’t run the risk of missing out of a share when urgently trying to contact your buddy/buddies during the order process.
And please be aware that an username might not be the same as the displayname someone uses on the casQ forum. So ask for the actual username of your buddies with who you share cask shares, and keep them to yourselves.
Our wish is that everyone enters the respective ‘co-owners’ @usernames during the order process to avoid loads of manual corrections afterwards.
Limitations for mentioned ‘co-owners’
Please be aware that the ‘Shared with’ information is first and foremost for your convenience. In principle casQueteers.com will not look at the information.
This means that:
- from a casQueteers.com administrative point of view, the person who purchased the product (cask share) through his / her account is the 100% owner of the product (cask share)
- only the purchaser of a product (cask share) can order a cask sample of the product (cask share) during the first week when the samples for a tasting round are being released within the casQ shop
- it doesn’t give you the “right” to receive all additionally purchased cask samples for those you share the product (cask share) with as in principle every registered share owner should be able to order a cask sample and normally there are not more samples available than the number of cask shares
How to submit corrections?
It can of course happen that an username contained a typo so it was discarded at the checkout of the order, or that a username was not inserted in the first place.
In those cases, or when it’s regarding an order placed prior to September 2023, then you as purchaser (!!) of the order can reach out to us to get the missing @username(s) added to the order(s) in the database.
